1. Our Commitment

AMM Australia is committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 and all applicable principles governing the handling of personal information. This Privacy Policy is designed to tell you about AMM Australia’s practices in relation to the collection, use, disclosure, and storage of personal information.

2. Information We Collect

AMM Australia collects and holds personal information that includes but is not limited to:

  • Name, address, mobile/telephone number, email address and other contact details.
  • Financial information, such as credit card/debit card details
  • Photographs, videos, and news stories in respect of AMM Australia related events and activities. We respect your wish in case you do not want to be shown in publications.
  • In respect of online prayer requests, information about your personal prayer requests
  • In respect of online membership applications, your personal information as outlined above.

3. How We Collect Your Information

AMM Australia’s usual practice is to collect personal information directly from you either via the AMM Australia website or by some other method (such as by post or email). For example, the prayer intentions section of the AMM Australia website, requires you to submit information on your personal prayer requests so that your prayer intentions can be offered during Novena Masses.

AMM Australia does not collect personal information from any third party.

4. How We Use Your Information

AMM Australia collects and holds personal information for several reasons, including the following primary purposes:

  • to place your contact details on mailing lists and in a computer database to provide you with information in the quarterly bulletins
  • to receive offerings and donations from you
  • to maintain your details in our membership register
  • to receive your online prayer requests that are offered in every Novena Mass. For prayer requests, we dispose all traces after your prayer intentions had been prayed for.

AMM Australia will only use the information you provide for the specific purpose or purposes for which you have given consent and for secondary purposes you expect AMM Australia to use or disclose your personal information.

For instance, if you have consented to receiving our quarterly AMM bulletins via our mailing list, AMM Australia will send you email updates or by post regarding the quarterly bulletins.

5. Sharing Your Information

AMM Australia may disclose your personal information in a number of circumstances, for instance:

  • where you have consented to us doing so (by way of example, in providing us with your contact details, you may have consented to AMM Australia providing those details to another group, such as the Parish of St Anthony’s at Marsfield, NSW).
  • where required or authorised by law (for instance, in response to a subpoena or other court order)

6. Keeping Your Information Safe

AMM Australia takes all reasonable precautions to safeguard your personal information from loss, misuse, interference, unauthorised access, modification, or unlawful disclosure.

However, you should keep in mind that the transmission of information over the internet is not completely secure or error-free. Emails sent to or from AMM Australia website, may not be secure, and you should therefore take particular care in deciding what information you send to us online.

7. Storage and Security

We take reasonable steps to protect any personal information that we hold from misuse, interference, and loss and from unauthorised access, alteration, and disclosure. For example, we implement the following security measures: password protection, security permissions, requirement for all users to maintain confidentiality, anti-spamming software, maintenance of SSL certificate.

8. Your Rights

In the event of any loss, or unauthorised access or disclosure of your personal information that is likely to result in serious harm to you, AMM Australia will investigate and notify the Australian Information Commissioner and you as soon as practicable, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988.

Personal information will not be disclosed by AMM Australia to recipients outside Australia.

You may request access to personal information that AMM Australia holds about you, or you can ask us to correct, amend or delete any personal information being held by AMM Australia about you. AMM Australia will take reasonable steps to update or correct, as soon as possible, any information in our possession that you have previously submitted that is inaccurate, incomplete, out-of-date, irrelevant, or misleading.
